Causes Of Low Back Pain
How did my back get this bad?
Common causes of back and neck pain:
- Childhood Injuries
- Sports Injuries
- Car Accidents
- Sitting Too Long At Work
- Heavy Physical Labor
- Obesity
- Stress Or Anxiety
- Smoking
- Certain Medications
- Poor Eating Habits
- Getting Older (Aging)
The result is that too much stress is placed on the delicate structures in your spine, if left too long it can turn into arthritis. The result is often increased pain and decreased ability to function in our daily lives.
Back and neck problems can exist long before the onset of pain. Pain is a normal response in the body, like the check engine light on your car, which is a warning sign of a more serious condition happening inside your body.
Pain Is Not Your Problem
Many of the treatment methods available today are aimed at treating one thing...pain. If you haven't found relief with the treatment methods you have tried there may be a good reason you're not getting better. It's that pain isn't the problem. Pain is a symptom like a runny nose when you have a cold. When you treat symptoms you are just covering up the actual problem. In order to gain relief you must correct the cause of the problem.
Think of pain like a fire alarm. If there is an alarm going off you wouldn't ignore the alarm and not check for a fire would, you? Then why would you try to cover up the symptom of pain in your body? That's what most treatment is aimed at, ignoring the fire alarm of pain by covering it up, not "putting out" the source of the pain.
Believe It Or Not Pain Is A Good Thing
Think of a time when you felt pain. Take a hot stove for example. We've all burned ourselves touching a hot stove or a hot plate. That produced pain at the area where you burned yourself. The next time you came close to that hot stove or anything hot for that matter your brain told you to avoid touching the object or at least grab some pot holders to protect yourself.
Low Back and Neck Pain works much the same way. The pain response helps you to limit yourself in an effort to prevent injury to the delicate nerves and tissues in and around your spine. By covering up the pain response how will you know if your causing damage to yourself? So when medications or injections cover up symptoms this prevents your body from communicating with itself and increases your chances of causing further injury to your back or neck.
Treat the Cause Not the Symptom
Back and Neck Pain are caused by several conditions. Many of which put pressure on the delicate spinal nerves. The most common conditions are Herniated/Bulging Discs, Degenerative Disc Disease, Facet Syndrome, Arthritis, Stenosis, Pinched Nerves and Sciatica.
When pressure is placed on a nerve the result is pain in the neck or low back. More serious conditions produce tingling and numbness in the upper (arms) and lower (legs) extremities.
Once the pressure is removed from the nerve and the problem corrected then the pain subsides on its own making it unnecessary to rely on pain medications.
Now Thanks to advances in medical technology and computer science there is a non-surgical, non-invasive method to relieve the effects of neck and back pain safely and effectively, without drugs and without surgery.
